18. Utah

On Saturday Terra ran a marathon here in Utah. I say here because we are still in Utah. While Terra is not thrilled with the results of her race I am very impressed. She did it in less time then her first marathon and she did it all with a hurt knee. I have my first marathon on July 4rth of this year and I hope I can meet Terra’s time. She has really given me something to shoot for.

Over all Utah has been a good experience. We arrived at 4:00AM on Friday to find that the person we were to be staying with had forgotten we were coming, was asleep, and the house was locked. So we called my Grandmother who was very nice woke up and let us in. After a few hours of sleep we were both up and ready to go. Terra and I both had different plans for the day, and mine involved skiing at my favorite resort Alta. Shortly after waking up my cousin Steve came and picked me up and after a quick stop to rent ski’s, and grabbing of snacks we were up the mountain. The first thing I noticed was the lack of cold. In fact it was so lacking in coldness that I took off the outer shell of my jacket, and skipped any kind of head wear. This turned out to be both a good and bad thing. Good because by the end of the day I was wishing I was only skiing in a t-shirt, and bad because I had forgotten to don sunscreen and my head was now burned. Nevertheless the skiing was great, and I had a great time going up and down Sugerloaf, which is my favorite run at Alta.

The next morning was the marathon and we had fun trying to get around the barricades in order to drop Terra and Lissa off, but we managed.

Later that night we had dinner at my Aunt and Uncles house, and had a really good time catching up with all of my cousins and family.

We are here until tomorrow and expect to be leaving around noon. So far its been a great trip.
