Three years ago on October 31st, I married my partner Leslie. Why Halloween you ask? Well, two reasons…
It’s our favorite holiday
Leslie needed date she could remember
Now, fast forward 1 year. Our first anniversary is close at hand, and Leslie and I decide we are going to celebrate by visiting St. Augustine and going ghost hunting at The Old Jail. Not the traditional way most couples celebrate their wedding but mind you Leslie and I are not your average couple. We do things our way and don’t care much for tradition.
Now we were excited to be there, and in hopes of catching a ghost, we bought a night vision camcorder, an EMF reader, some ghost sensors, and more. What we did not have is the experience we needed in filming. The majority of our footage was trash. No, I’m serious! It was Awful! Unusable! So the footage stayed locked away for two years.
Fast forward to today, October 31st, 2022 and Leslie and I have decided to return to the jail and do another ghost hunt. This time with better equipment, and new skills in filming and editing.
But before we head to St. Augustine we decided to dust off the old footage of our first hunt, and with some editing, and magic revisit our first hunt. So join us as we celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary with this very special video.
As many of you know the new trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One premiered today. As a fan of Star Wars since I was a small child I have always been fascinated by the universe and the stories it tells.
This is why I was not happy with Disney when they declared that almost all the books, and novels related to the Star Wars Expanded Universe were no longer considered canon. How could they accept the prequels as canon, but disregard some of the amazing stories told through the talents of some amazing authors?!
However, before I start complaining, and get off on a tangent, the reason I love the promise of Rogue One is it seems to be the untold story of characters within the Star Wars universe that have nothing to do with the Jedi or the Sith.
We get to peer into the lives of members of the rebellion as they struggle and fight for a cause without the promise of “The Force” or the rebirth of The Jedi.
Further, what excites me is we may actually get to see just how scary The Empire actually is, and what it does to its citizens and captured members of The Rebellion.
This is important, and something I always felt was brushed over in the original movies. The Empire was a scary, and dangerous organization. It showed no mercy, destroyed whole worlds, and built weapons of mass destruction that would terrorize its people. And we get to see that world.
At least I hope we do.
What are you most excited about when it comes to the upcoming film Star Wars: Rogue One?
A few days ago I posted a video from Anonymous. The video stated that the group was declaring war on Donald Trump. It seems they were serious in their threats, and have released a powerful video, and a gift to all who watch the video.
What are you thoughts on Anonymous and its war with Donald Trump?
Unless you have been living under a rock you are probably aware that a presidential election is in our very near future. Normally I avoid politics like the plague, but this election is one I simply do not understand.
The candidates are petty and cruel, seemingly caring more about themselves then the country or its people. None of them seem to have any actual plan, and worse the candidates themselves are all very scary individuals.
Years ago I remember watching the movie V For Vendetta. It was a movie that seemed to speak to me at my core, but today I am reminded of one particular line from the movie.
Never in all my life have I been more worried about the future. And, I think, everyone in the country feels the same unease. Jokes about moving to Canada, or leaving the country seem to plague social media. I personally know friends who have unfriended people on Facebook because they support one candidate or another. Rallies and conventions are in the news media because of violence and hate crimes.
Is this what America is about? Is this the type of nation we truly want to become?
I have struggled over questions like these because there seems so little I as one person can do.
But it seems that Anonymous shares some of my concerns and has declared total war on Donald Trump.
Dear Donald Trump, we have been watching you for a long time and what we see is deeply disturbing. Your inconsistent and hateful campaign has not only shocked the United States of America, you have shocked the entire planet with your appalling actions and ideas. You say what your current audience wants to hear, but in reality, you don’t stand for anything except for your personal greed and power.
One of my biggest goals this year is to practice mindfulness, and staying present in the moment. This includes meditating twice a day, listening to music, reading, wood work projects, and now…Watching a new TED Talk each and every day.
Todays talk is by Andrés Ruzo. While I really enjoyed listening to his discovery of the boiling river, the last 5 minutes were the real meat of his talk.
A few weeks ago I realized my YouTube subscriptions had started to run a little stale. With the exception of Kiri most of the people I was following on YouTube had either stopped posting, or were basically posting the same videos over and over.
So I went exploring, and was pleased to find Mr. Ben Brown. His videos of exploration, and adventure have a tendency to make me smile. Further his musical selections for his YouTube videos are often great pieces of music that I have never heard before.
This evening I was watching this video where Ben and his girlfriend Nicole go on a romantic hike and discover a beautiful waterfall. Not only did I love the cinema-photography, but the music was spot on!
So I did some exploring, and discovered that the music was by Sam Garrett. Now I will confess I was a little disappointed to discover that none of his music is available on vinyl, but that hasn’t stopped me from listening to his playlist for the last hour or so.
